The November Board Meeting is the Annual House of Delegates Meeting and takes place on Monday, November 16, 2015.  This is a reminder that the meeting will be held at a special location, Qualcomm’s Building S (the cafeteria), and not the swim office.  The location change was made to comfortably accommodate more people.  The Qualcomm campus has many different buildings, so please refer to this map for more details.  There is a guard at the entrance to the parking lot.  Just tell the guard you are going to a USA Swimming Meeting in building S and he/she will direct you.

San Diego-Imperial Swimming has released the final draft of the Junior Olympic Time Standards for the 2016 competition year.  Junior Olympic time standards are set locally here in San Diego and are recomputed annually to select approximately the 24 fastest swimmers in each event, based upon the average results for the event over the past 3 – 5 years.  These time standards can, and often do, change by small amounts from year to year in order to keep up with advances (and rarely declines) in the various age/gender groups.  Note: These time standards have not yet been approved by the SI Swimming Board of Directors, and will be voted upon at the upcoming Board meeting in September.  However, it is unlikely they will change unless an administrative or computational error is discovered.

The SI Swimming Board of Directors meeting scheduled for Monday evening, May 19, 2014 has been cancelled at the direction of our General Chair.  Due to the North County fires, a number of high school league and conference competitions have been rescheduled for Monday, and involve a significant number of BOD members.  Anyone with questions regarding this cancellation should contact Debbie Baldwin (SI Swimming General Chair).

At a recent off-site meeting, the existing Policy and Procedures Manual of SI Swimming was reviewed and numerous changes were proposed.  The proposed changes are available for review.  The items in red are the proposal; the strikeouts are what would be taken out of the manual. Some items will need to be changed and updates to reflect what is changed with the Bylaws. These changes will be voted upon at an upcoming Board of Directors meeting.

At the most recent Board of Directors meeting, the Board was updated on the increasing size of the disparity between the North and South divisions of the LSC.  In the 4 years since the last time the divisional split was reviewed, SI Swimming has grown in size (by almost 25%, to almost 3300 swimmers), with more of the growth occurring in the North county.  This means with all things being equal, split meets tend to be larger in the North than the South.  The Team Sizes as of 1 March 2014 chart shows that there are currently over 600 more registered swimmers in the North than the South.  The Board will consider proposals to rebalance the LSC at its next meeting, one obvious suggestion is to move club(s) of least 200 swimmers from the North to the South division.
