SI Swimming has released a summary of its 2011 policy for observation of high school swim meets.  Swim meets conducted by organizations other than USA Swimming and with different technical rules must request “Observed” meet status in order for swimmer’s times to be sent to and recorded in the USA Swimming times database, known as SWIMS.  The prelims and finals of the CIF San Diego Section Swimming Championships (both Division 1 and 2) will be observed meets.  League championship meets may also attain observed meet status if they apply and follow certain technical requirements.
