Coach DawnElla Stoddard reports that our 2015 San Diego-Imperial Swimming All Star team emerged victorious (for the third year in a row) at the annual All-Star Meet, held this year against Sierra Nevada Swimming in Roseville, CA.  San Diego-Imperial Swimming scored 812.5 to Sierra Nevada’s 651.5 points.  Congratulations to all the swimmers and coaches on a great team effort!  Coach Kevin Slinger and the 13-14 boys group are pictured.  Complete meIMG_8827et results are available in the usual spot.

San Diego-Imperial Swimming today announced the 48 (24 girls, 24 boys) swimmers and 6 coaches who have been selected to this year’s All Star team.  The team will represent San Diego-Imperial Swimming and will compete against the Sierra Nevada LSC in Roseville, CA the weekend of January 17-18.  A complete list of athletes is available.  Thank you to all of the athletes who applied for the team, and also to the coaches who have volunteered to travel and work with these athletes (John Bixler, Nicole Douglas, Kevin Eslinger, John McGlynn, Amy Montgomery, and Sean Redmond).

The 2015 SI Swimming All-Star Team will be competing in the annual All-Star Meet, which this year will be a dual meet against the Sierra Nevada All-Star Team on January 17-18 in Roseville, CA!  Our All-Star team will be selected at the the upcoming Winter Age Group Championship meet in December from the eligible SI swimmers with the best performances at the meet. The key word here is “eligible” – and to be eligible for selection, each interested swimmer must submit an All-Star Team Application (PDF) prior to the completion of the Sunday preliminary events at the Winter Age Group Championships on Dec 21, 2014.  The team will consist of up to 24 girls and 24 boys in the 10 & Under, 11-12, and 13-14 age groups.

Athletes in the CA-NV Section of the Western Zone are reminded that applications to compete against Itoman, Japan, are due by Sunday, December 7.

The meet will be conducted as a trials/ finals long course meet at King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, WA, on February 14-15, 2015.  Athletes are reminded that Olympic Trial time standards are in long course only.  KCAC has just reopened after renovation and is an excellent indoor all deep facility.

CA-NV will select 18 women and 18 men for the trip.  Times achieved between October 1 and December 22 will be considered for selection.  CA-NV team will travel on Thursday, February 12and return on Monday, February 16 (President’s Day).  Co-pay for the 5 day trip (air, room, meals and uniform) is $200.  To apply visit:  teamunify.com/Home.jsp?team=cacns

The CA-NV organizing group for February exchange meet with Japan has decided to accept Coach applications for this year’s adventure to Federal Way leaving Thursday morning, February 12, and returning Monday, February 16.  The meet against Japan will be February 14-15 and will be long course meters, prelims/finals.

The deadline for coaches to apply for the head coach positions (one for men, one for women) is November 7, 2014.  Interested coaches should submit an application (available at www.socalswim.org) stating their experience and WHY they are interested in coaching this team.  All applications should be e-mailed to scsmj@earthlink.net.  The committee will meet by conference call on November 11 to select the two head coaches.

The assistants on the trip will be named based on athletes making the trip.  Athlete selection will be based on best swims from October 1, 2014, to December 22, 2014.  Athletes will be asked to DECLARE their desire to be selected by December 7, 2014 through an online process as was done last year.

Athletes and coaches are reminded that athletes MUST apply to be considered for this trip.  Application deadline is December 2, 2013.
Applications are now open for 18 & Under swimmers interesting in being part of the CA-NV Section All Stars traveling on Delta Airlines from LAX to Japan on February 11, arriving February 12, and returning February 17.  Athletes will be selected on performance at USA Swimming Nationals in Knoxville, Junior Nationals in Greensboro in December, and the CA-NV Sectionals at East Los Angeles in January.

San Diego-Imperial Swimming will hold its 3rd Annual Winter Age Group Championships (aka WAGC) this year beginning on Friday December 20, and running through Sunday December 22. The meet will again be held at the Brian Bent Memorial Aquatics Complex in Coronado, and will utilize the same split pool format for the preliminary sessions that has been used in the past.  Parents and swimmers are advised to mark your calendars for this popular meet!

All-Star Coach Michael Galindo has announced that the 2014 SI Swimming All-Star Team will be selected based upon the results of this meet.  All-Star qualifying events are marked in the WAGC meet announcement with a ✪.  Eight girls and eight boys in the 10 & under, 11-12 and 13-14 age groups will be selected for the All-Star team.  The SI All-Star team will compete against  all-star teams from Central California Swimming and Sierra Nevada Swimming in the All-Star Tri-LSC Meet on January 18-19, 2014.

The All-Star teams from Central California Swimming, Sierra Nevada Swimming, and San Diego-Imperial Swimming concluded their annual All-Star Tri-Meet under fabulous sunny weather in Poway today.  A great time was had by all, with many thanks to the SI All-Star Coaches and Mr. Mike Saltzstein for making all the arrangements.  The final team scores showed San Diego-Imperial Swimming taking the top spot with 3439 points, Sierra Nevada Swimming in second with 3186 points, and Central California Swimming with 1621 points. Complete meet results are available in the usual spot.

The meet program for the 2013 All-Star Tri-Meet is now available for download. Since the meet is pre-seeded, that means that you can also check heat and lane assignments in advance.  Anyone wanting a copy of the meet program is encouraged to download a copy and print it out before coming to the pool, as there will be no copies for sale or distribution on deck.
