From Senior Chair Dave Kilmer:

The first thing someone says when they find out a swimmer is going to trials is something like, “I hope you make the Olympics”, or “Do you think you’ll make it to Rio?”. The reality is that only about 40-45 US swimmers will qualify for the Olympics, and 20-25 of those will likely be those who’ve been to previous Olympics….so about 20 new qualifiers out of 400,000 U.S. swimmers (that’s 1 out of every 20,000!).

Just to be one of the 1,700 swimmers at the trials is an incredible feat. Basically it represents the top ½ of 1% of the swimmers in the US.  The Olympic Trials in Omaha is, by far, the premier swimming meet in the US. With 10-14,000 fans in the stands FOR PRELIMS, it dwarfs all other meets!

Most swimmers at Olympic Trials are going because it is the most awesome meet in the US since the Olympics were here in 1996. While most don’t have a great shot at the Olympic team, one San Diego swimmer potentially could have a shot – Kendyl Stewart from NCA / USC is seeded 3rd in the 100 Fly.

Here’s who else from San Diego to watch for:
